A person who has lived in America since he graduated from high school still has difficulty in distinguishing between ‘a(indefinite article)’and ‘the(definite article)’; he asks his wife whenever he writes something. From this example, we get to know one of the big differences between Korean and English. It is the very difference that one has ‘articles’, but another doesn’t have. When Koreans try to speak English or write it, it is a very difficult part to acquire English articles. Whitman(1974) said that the proper use of articles can be a standard to distinguish English native speakers from non-English native speakers. Especially, even Koreans who have high English ability frequently make errors in using articles.
In this paper, we will figure out about ‘articles’, which we regard as something we know well, but at the same time, something not using properly. In the concrete, we’ll look into common points and di…(생략(省略))
